#1234THUMBWAR

Hello!

*these products were sent to me for review*

I am super excited to share with you today my mani for the Models Own #1234Thumbwar competition! The good folks over at Models Own contacted me to see if I wanted to try my hand (pardon the pun!) at an entry for their monthly #1234Thumbwar contest using a selection of their new Twilight collection Hyper Gel polishes.

So what is the #1234Thumbwar (besides being a playground game – you do remember playing that as a kid? I remember the resulting injuries!)

Each month, Models Own release an inspiration picture and the idea is that you create a mani based on that 🙂  Anyone can enter so if you feel inspired, have a go! Just make sure that you use the hashtag #1234THUMBWAR. You don’t have to use Models Own polishes but their new twilight collection is obviously perfect for this.  There are 3 prizes to be won too! The winning mani, chosen by Models Own will receive £200 of Models Own Polish!!! And if that wasn’t enough, two runners up will receive the entire Twilight Polish Collection!  Check out the Models Own instagram page to find out more!  You have until the 3rd Of November to get your entry in! Go Go Go!

This was this month’s inspiration pic!

Ain’t it pretty?! But before I share my #1234THUMBWAR mani, let’s take a look at the polishes I received:

All were taken with 2 coats of polish and no topcoat. They’ve also changed the brushes from the skinny normal Model’s Own ones to a wider flatter brush which allows for much easier application.

Heather

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Heather 1

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Heather 2

Heather is perfect for autumn/winter and the formula was nice and smooth which made application easy.

Next we have Teal

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Teal1

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Teal 2

This is such a beautiful shade of teal! Application was super smooth on this one and was almost a one-coater

Here we have Luna Grey

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Luna Grey 1

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Luna Grey 2

I love a good grey polish! The formula on this one was a little bit runny and the first coat looked reaaally translucent but a second coat made it total opaque.

Next is Jet Black

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Jet Black 1

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Jet Black 2

You can never have to many black polishes, ha! The shine on this is fantastic (well, they all are really :-D) but because I have been totally spoilt with Cirque’s Momento Mori one coat wonder, having to apply two coats for full opacity was a bit odd! Still, Jet Black is still a really good black and worth having in your stash!

Last but no means least, Loganberry

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Loganberry 1

Models Own HyperGel - Twilight - Loganberry 2

Loganberry is a gorgeous raspberry and my favourite of the bunch because, PINK! It’s very pigmented and a one-coater with a lovely buttery formula! Love this!

All of these lovely Autumnal shades are available for 4.99 each from Superdrug, Boots and online retailers too.

Onto my mani inspired by this month’s #1234ThumbWar pic! A lot of entrants for this month’s challenge had opted for skittles and I did too; it was a great way to get across all the different elements of the picture.

For this I used:

  • Index : Models Own HyperGel ‘Teal’ , Nails Inc ‘Wyndham’ & MoYou London Pro Plate 1
  • Middle :Models Own HyperGel ‘Luna Grey’ and BarryM Gelly ‘Chai’
  • Ring :Models Own HyperGel ‘Loganberry’ and feather
  • Pinky: BarryM Gelly ‘Chai’ and Konad M70
  • Seche Vite

  1. Some really nice shades. I really like the nail art you created too, especially the design on the pointer nail.

  2. I especially like how the teal nail came out. Such a nice combination of color & design. (And I’m still super bad in stamping…)

    • Hey sweetie! Hope you’re well! Thank you. The flakie topcoat gave it that shimmery look I wanted :-). I’m sure your stamping is great! Xx

      • Hahaha no I’m seriously bad at stamping…but I have to admit, I gave up quite quickly after it turned out horribly messy. 😛 Any tips?
