Collection 2000 – Hidden

Hello! Hope you’re all fine and dandy! It’s day three of the challenge! Today’s theme was green. Yeah…green. Not a huge fan of green (doesn’t go very well with my skin tone) so I don’t have many in my stash (teals/turquoise however I have in spades lol!) so I actually had to go and buy a couple of green polishes specifically for this challenge.

When I thought about green I immediately thought FROGS! and I had every intention of painting a cute little green frog on my accent nail. However, my frog looked like he’d met with a rather nasty accident so I gave up on frogs and thought ‘snakes, snakes are green’ so I went with some snake skin stamping instead. It’s not my best work….. :-/

Day 3,Green

  • SH Nailgrowth Miracle (Nail Envy and I aren’t talking at the moment…see below)
  • Collection 2000 ‘Hidden’ (dark green) 2 coats
  • Essie ‘Navigate Her’ (light green) 2 coats
  • Stamping polish (as above)
  • BM 215 plate
  • Gold Nail Studs
  • Seche Vite

Like I say, it’s not my best… My big squishy stamper whilst great for bigger designs, is not so hot at picking up the image hence the slight patchiness on some of the stamping 😦 As for the polishes; both were two easy coats and Essie levelled out well, Collection 2000 not so good but SV sorted it all out.

Ah yes, Nail Envy….. The reason I’ve switched back to Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle is due to the WHOPPING GREAT CRACK in my ring fingernail ( also known as a nail Snafu as coined by the lovely CraftyNail. It is my favourite word at the min lol) on my photographing hand! I never get cracks like this as SH kept my nails strong but flexible and would they would ‘spring back’ from any knocks. I’ve been using Nail Envy for a few weeks now and don’t get me wrong, they are strong but I think too strong so there’s no ‘give’ in my nail if I ding it. If you have weak nails then this stuff is brilliant and I know loads of people swear by it but it’s sadly not for me so it’s back to SH I go.
Fortunately, the crack only appears to be on the top layers (so the bottom layer is still intact) and hasn’t made it to the side of the free edge so for now I have patched it over with acrylic rescue stuff. Normally I wouldn’t be such a baby and I’d quit my whining and file them all down but as I’m doing the challenge I really didn’t want nubs as my nail beds are super short 😦 So, all I’m hoping for is that it has holds out till the end of the challenge and then I’ll just have to suck it up and trim them all down! Lol

That’s all for today guys, see you soon!

  1. You are so right…. what works for everyone else may not work for you! I used some SALLY HANSEN HARD AS NAILS STRENGTHENER- which made my nails hard alright. Hard and brittle! I got two breakages and had to file mine down. I thought I needed a hardener since i get breaks and peels…but maybe what I really need is more moisture and protein to keep mine flexible? AGH it’s so confusing. I just bought Nail Envy Moisturizing Formula in the red bottle…we’ll see if that works. Which envy did you use??

    • It’s a minefield isn’t it! I should learn, if it ain’t broke, don’t try and fix it! Lol! I’ve strayed from Nailgrowth Miracle before and the same thing happens breaks, chips, cracks etc so I think I just need to accept that for my nails SH works. I only got the standard Nail Envy so maybe you’re right, maybe I need the moisturising one too? Let me know how you get on with and I may be tempted. It is very confusing, it’s giving me a headache ha!

  2. I used to use Nailtiques #2 which worked great for me… but with all our nail-painting I’ve only been using it in between manis for like a day or so here and there… Now my bottle is getting low so I thought I’d try something new. I will let you know how the red envy works. I am thinking of doing a two week review on it… with before and after pics!

    • That’s a great idea! As it’s sometimes hard to tell if a base coat is doing any good as we do our nails everyday, we don’t actually notice the difference πŸ™‚

  3. Let me first say: I no know for sure that we have at least one thing in common πŸ˜€ We are both very picky about the outcome of our mani’s πŸ˜€

Green doesn’t look all that bad on you! And I really like this design! Love the studs that you used!

Nail Snafu… sorry, I can’t get over that word. It’s just too awesome. Reading it makes me laugh every time. And it isn;t even something that one should laugh about right? I just can’t help it!

πŸ˜€ On to a flower mani for tomorrow’s challenge. Thinking hard what to do!

    • Snafu! Snafu! Snafu! It makes me giggle too! It just sounds so funny when you say it even though its describing a nail fanatic’s worst nightmare lol! Haha, yep we’re probably a little too critical of our manis at times but hey, that’s what drives us to do better hey? πŸ™‚ I think the darker green suits my skin tone a little better than the lighter green but it’s not a colour I’d usually pick. Glad you liked the design though – I was quite pleased with how well the non-stamping polish stamped!

I’m struggling with a design for tomorrow at the min… Best get my thinking cap on lol!

  4. First time I thought about was an alligator actually πŸ˜‰ but I think a frog is ok then, oh well a snake I see!!
I keep looking forward to your new posts! Me like πŸ™‚

    • I didn’t even think of an alligator! I should have done really as alligators are really just frogs on steroids haha! I’m glad you like my manis!
